HOLY...!!! Sorry, Batman... I've Got Nothing.

Today has been officially declared as Batman Day! I'm not sure who the officials are that can declare such a thing, but they did, and so it is. Let the celebration of a fictitious man who dresses like a flying rodent commence!

This is in reference to a scene from the 1966 film, Batman: The Movie. In the film, Batman stumbles onto the bad guys' hideout in the back room of some disreputable seaside drinking joint. When he arrives, he notices that the hideout has been abandoned with a cartoonish bomb set to explode. Batman tries to get rid of the bomb, but... well... you get it.

Here's the scene.

I wish this clip played out just a minute or two longer. When Robin asks Batman why he would risk his life to save a bar full of "riffraff," Batman replies (in an Adam West fashion that this blog can not do justice), "They may be drinkers, Robin, but they're also human beings... and may be... salvaged. I HAD TO DO IT!"

That you did, Caped Crusader. That you did.

Happy Batman Day, Chums!

It's important to note that Batman grew up to become a Mayor of a town called Quahog, and dated an adolescent. I'm not sure what Robin is doing nowadays. I did see him a few years back posing for photos on Hollywood Strip for dollar notes and French fries.
